Pakistan Donate Fundraise A personal appeal from Asfand Ali Pakistan picked the night of the 27th of Ramadan as it's birthday. The faithful celebrate Pakistan's birthday by fasting during the day, feeding the hungry at sunset and spending the night in prayer. I have made three visits to Pakistan in the last three years. During my travels, I was advised against leaving the comfort of my vehicle and visiting areas that everyone goes past because there was nothing to see. During these visits, I come across local charities and NGO's, who try to help the most desperate people, often these people are living in places far from large cities, where these charities are based and those needing their help lack the transport to even make an attempt to seek help. These are the desperately poor people for whom basic essentials, like clean water and clothes, have to be paid for in a daily cost of hours spent travelling before the question of how much money can even be asked. Every day young girls sacrifice their education to travel miles to obtain drinking water for their families, perpetuating a cycle of poverty. Whenever I visit families like this I find myself trying to work out if I will be able to refuse a glass of water without offending my host, knowing what I know about how far that water has travelled on the head of a child before it is offered to me. Deciding to make a difference I exchanged contact details with a number of organisations and made a commitment to help, and I know if you guys chip-in, we will be able to make a difference. I'm going to focus on essentials like food, water, clothes, medical and education. Narrated Anas ibn Malik ; AbuSa'idThe Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "O Allah, grant me life as a poor man, cause me to die as a poor man, and resurrect me in the company of the poor." Aisha asked him why he had said this, and he replied, "Because they will enter Paradise forty years before the rich. Do not turn away a poor man, Aisha, even if all you can give is half a date. If you love the poor and bring them near you, Aisha, Allah will bring you near Him on the Day of Resurrection." The first initiative will be providing Eid Packs, to be distributed in Pakistan.
