A personal story update by Dr Shameela Islam-Zulfiqar

Salam everyone. Today the team spent part of the day at the warehouse facility where the last of the winter packs are being prepared for the Syrian refugee children. We was so impressed with the quality of clothes – shoes, gloves, hats, scarves and warm winter jackets in the packs MashAllah TabarakAllah! Nothing but the best for our families struggling inside Syria!

The packs are assembled by Syrian refugees who have come to live in Turkey – providing them with some income for their own families. It was so rewarding to see them working in a positive and rewarding atmosphere Alhamdulillah.

I also met 12 year old friends and Syrian refugees Nihaal and Batool who came to visit their fathers in the factory during the lunch hour. A beautiful sister, Aisha, from East London donated some Henna cones for Syrian girls and women – which I carried with me, I treated the girls to Henna and – and it was such a nice surprise for them! Nihaal also benefited from a french plait in her beautiful red hair.

They both left Syria – and their houses only two months ago so have been missing home and their old friends. It was an awesome feeling to put a smile on their faces!

Please help by donating to the winter campaign.
